Yoriichi Tsugikuni is a central figure in the anime and manga series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. He lived during the Sengoku Era, approximately 500 years before the main storyline.

Considered the most powerful Demon Slayer in history, Yoriichi was born with an innate ability and immense spiritual power. He developed the Sun Breathing style, the first and most powerful Breathing Style, from which all other Breathing Styles are derived.

Despite his unmatched strength, Yoriichi failed to kill Muzan Kibutsuji, the progenitor of demons, a failure that haunted him for the rest of his life. This event set in motion a chain of events that would plague his descendants and the Demon Slayer Corps for centuries.

He dedicated himself to teaching others his Breathing Style, hoping to equip them to defeat Muzan. His older twin brother, Michikatsu Tsugikuni, later became the demon Kokushibo, deeply impacted by feelings of inadequacy compared to Yoriichi. Though he died of old age, his legacy continues to influence the fight against demons in the present day.
